MINI SPARKS SCIENCE ADVENTURES AT IMAGINE THAT! SCIENCE AND DISCOVERY CENTRE
Written by Rebecca Maher
Calling all toddlers! Our Mini Sparks Science Adventures are launching Friday 4th September…..a three hour experience led by a friendly visitor guide who will take you on a journey of science and discovery through all four zones of Imagine That!
Whilst it’s Back to School for our Bright Sparks, (and we will certainly miss you guys!),
we are taking our mini sparks on a science adventure guaranteed to entertain guests of all ages, yes that includes mums, dads and grandparents! The experience is divided into two parts- The first ninety minutes are spent exploring and creating in the Imagination Village and Art area where children can immerse themselves in a world of pure imagination and take part in workshops including fridge magnets, bath bombs, smiley face “poppers” and bubble wands.
From there guests will venture into the science area where they can get hands-on experimenting with a multitude of interactive exhibits and enjoy some unique shows and activities.
Favourites include a snow making workshop amidst a flurry of falling snowflakes, a sensory journey in a dry-ice science show and fascinating facts revealed in an unbelieveabubble bubble show.
The day will be rounded off with a visit to the Slime Factory where Mini Sparks can learn how to create their very own personalised slime including glitter and foam ball variations!
These Science Adventures are guaranteed to spark a love of science!
Mini Sparks Science Adventures take place Thursdays & Fridays in September with three sessions to choose from: 9.30am, 11am, 12.30pm! Admission is by advance booking, so please book early to avoid disappointment!

It’s been a super crazy few months for us all, especially for our mini scientists & explorers.
So it was a fantastic moment when we re-opened our doors on July 22nd and welcomed everybody back…. and what an amazing few weeks it has been too!
For those of you who have not yet paid us a visit post Covid, days out to Imagine That! are quite different. Visits are now three hours long and must be pre booked in advance by following this link right here: https://www.imaginethat.org.uk/whats-happening.html
with a selection of time slots to choose from. When you arrive, your dedicated visitor experience guide will greet you outside the main entrance and explain how super fun your journey ahead will be for you.
With our new one way system, your visitor experience guide will take you on a tour starting in the Imagination Village and Construction Site and ending with a visit to our Slime Factory. During the three hour journey, visitors spend roughly 45 mins in each area, ensuring everybody has plenty of time to explore, make and create in each zone. Beginning with a leap into a world of pure imagination over in our Imagination Village, then it’s our Kitchen science area with the bath bombs and fridge magnet workshops plus paint the car and the outdoor area to explore.
Guests are then immersed into a world of science in the science zone with lots of interactive exhibits, science demonstrations and even some never-melting snow.
The journey ends with a visit to our slime factory where our professors will teach everybody how to make the BEST slime ever!
As groups move on from one area to the next, rest assured every exhibit, surface and dress-up outfit, is replaced or sanitised to a super clean & high standard . All adults visitors must wear masks (except for those with medical conditions), our staff all wear face visors and hand sanitiser is readily available throughout the venue. In addition, the whole venue is fogged regularly with a 30 day germ protection spray which continues to protect all surfaces from Covid for up to thirty days even after cleaning.
During your visit our cafes will be open, serving selected food and refreshments; and even better we are proud to be a part of the government’s ‘Eat out to help out ‘scheme meaning half price food and drink for everybody from Monday to Wednesday. How great is that?

October 21st – November 3rd
October half term always coincides with Halloween so there's no doubt that you'll be looking for plenty of fun Halloween activities for kids. Thankfully we've got you covered here at Imagine That. We're planning a full schedule of spooky special events throughout the whole of half term, as well as offering up the biggest and best of local Halloween activities for kids on the day itself.
Naturally our Halloween activities for kids offer up all the same delights that we provide all year round. You can join us at any time of the day and stay as long as you like, joining your little people as they let their interest guide them to any part of the Imagine That site that takes their fancy. They can investigate in the science area, paint, craft, participate in imaginative play, splash in the water zone, awaken their senses in the sensory area and more. Those activities are available all year round!
However, in the lead up to Halloween lots of the regular shows and workshops that we put on all day every day will take on distinctly spooky themes.
To encourage learning in the most enjoyable way, we'll be running regular hands-on workshops in the science area. There will be opportunity for the kids to make their own neon slime – a skill for life if ever there was one – as well as special Halloween bath bombs. We'll also be having some spooky fun in our spooktacular science show, which is all set to include blood bags, oozing pumpkins, magic potions and catapulting eyeballs!
